UTB/TSC and STCC Join Forces in Higher Education

Rio Grande Valley community college students who want to advance their education will now be assured of a smooth transition to the University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College.

Thanks to an articulation agreement signed in February, South Texas Community College students can now be confidant the courses they take will meet standards for admission and transfer to UTB/TSC.

“The articulation agreement entices students to think beyond the first two years of college, and to remain in the Rio Grande Valley as they pursue their educational goals,” said Dr. Juliet V. Garcia, UTB/TSC President. “The agreement allows for a smooth transition between schools, and ensures that the classes students enroll in today will count toward their degree plan in the future.”

The agreement identifies specific courses or course sequences that are acceptable in lieu of UTB/TSC course requirements. It both ensures that transferred students are prepared for UTB/TSC, and also that unnecessary roadblocks to advancement are removed.
