Dissertations 2009 Aug. 15 The VPAA will make recommendations to the President regarding nominees for the Outstanding Dissertations Competition 2009.
   
Dissertations 2009 Aug. 29 President submits six (6) copies of dissertation abstracts to Chair of th AAHHE Outstanding Disserations Competition 2009.
   
Piper Sept. 22-Oct. 3 Publicity/call for nominations for the Piper Professor Award.
     
Chancellor's Sep. 29 – Oct. 24 Publicity/call for nominations for the Chancellor's Council Teaching Excellence Award.
   
Piper Oct. 3 Nominations for the Piper Professor Award due to the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
   
Piper Oct. 7 Nominees for the Piper Professor Award are notified and sent a Nomination Acceptance Form.
   
Piper Oct. 15 Piper Professor Award Nominees accept or decline nomination. By accepting, the Nominee agrees to submit required supporting materials.
   
Piper Oct. 17 The Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs annually will convene the Piper Professor Award Committee, give the charge, and the Committee will elect a chair.
   
Dissertations 2009 Oct. 17 Chair of the dissertations competition 2009 determins five (5) to seven (7) top abstracts and advises all entrants of the results.  In effect, these are the semifinalists.
   
Dissertations 2009 Oct. 18 Semifinalists send one copy of complete dissertation to Eleanor Horne at ETS.
   
Chancellor's Oct. 24 Nominations for the Chancellor's Council Teaching Excellence Award due to the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
   
Chancellor's Oct. 28 Nominees for the Chancellor's Council Teaching Excellence Award are notified and sent a Nomination Acceptance Form.
   
Dissertations 2009 Oct. 31 Panel of Judges meets and selects the top three (3) dissertations.
   
Dissertations 2009 Nov. 3 Chair of the competition notifies three (3) finalists and the others not selected of results.
   
NISOD Nov. 3 Deans make recommendations to the Vice President for Academic Affairs regarding nominees for NISOD Excellence Awards.
   
Innovations Nov. 5 - 18 Publicity/call for nominations for the Chancellor’s Council Innovations in Education Award.
   
Piper Nov. 7 The Piper Professor Award Committee will make a recommendation for the Award nominee to the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
   
NISOD Nov. 10 The Vice President for Academic Affairs makes recommendations to the President regarding NISOD Excellence Awards nominees.
   
Chancellor's Nov. 11 Chancellor's Council Teaching Excellence Award Nominees accept or decline nomination. By accepting, the Nominee agrees to submit a portfolio.
   
Piper Nov. 14 The Vice President for Academic Affairs makes recommendation to the President regarding nominee for the Piper Professor Award.
   
Innovations Nov. 18 Nominations for Chancellor's Council Innovations in Education Award are due to Vice President for Academic Affairs.
   
Innovations Nov. 19 Nominees for the Chancellor’s Council Innovations in Education Award are notified and sent a Nomination Acceptance Form.
   
Piper Nov. 20 The President sends recommendation for Piper Professor Award nominee to Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation.  Awards will be announced in May.
   
NISOD Dec. 1 The President submits recommendations for NISOD Excellence Awards to the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development.
   
Innovations Dec. 2 Chancellor’s Council Innovations in Education Award Nominees accept or decline nomination. By accepting, the Nominee agrees to submit required supporting materials.
   
Innovations Jan. 5 Supporting materials for Chancellor’s Council Innovations in Education Award are due to the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
   
Innovations Jan. 7 The Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs annually will convene the Chancellor’s Council Innovations in Education Award Committee, give the charge, and the Committee will elect a chair.
   
CASE Jan. 8 - Feb. 4 Publicity/call for nominations for CASE "U.S. Professor of the Year" Award.
   
Innovations Jan. 20 The Chancellor’s Council Innovations in Education Award Committee will make a recommendation for the Award nominee to the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
   
Innovations Jan. 22 The Vice President for Academic Affairs will make a recommendation for Chancellor’s Council Innovations in Education Award nominee to the President.
   
Chancellor's Jan. 28 Portfolios with supporting materials for Chancellor's Council Teaching Excellence Award are due to the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
   
Innovations Jan. 30 The President sends recommendation for Chancellor’s Council Outstanding Innovations in Education Award nominee to Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.  Awards announced in April and winners introduced at the Chancellor’s Council Spring meeting.

CASE Feb. 4 Nominations for the CASE U.S. Professor of the Year Award are due to the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
   
CASE Feb. 6 Nominees for the CASE U.S. Professor of the Year Award are Notified and sent a Nomination Acceptance form.
   
CASE Feb. 18 CASE U.S. Professor of the Year Award Nominees accept or decline nomination. By accepting, the nominee agrees to submit required supporting materials.
   
Chancellor's Feb. 25 The Chancellor's Council Teaching Excellence Award Committee will make a recommendation for  Award recipient to the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
   
Chancellor's Mar. 2 The Vice President for Academic Affairs will make a recommendation for Chancellor's Council Teaching Excellence Award recipient to the President.
   
Dissertations 2009 March 5-7 Winners are presented at the fourth annual national conference of the American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education, in San Antonio, Texas.
   
Dissertations 2010 Mar. 7 The AAHHE Outstanding Dissertations Competition 2010 is announced at the awards luncheon at the fourth annual conference of the American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education in San Antonio, Texas.
   
Chancellor's Mar. 10 The President announces the recommendation for Chancellor's Council Teaching Excellence Award recipient and notifies nominees of the decision.
   
CASE Mar. 11 Supporting materials for the CASE Award are due to the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
   
CASE Mar. 13 The Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs annually will convene the CASE Award Committee, gives the charge, and the Committee will elect a chair.
   
CASE Apr. 8 The CASE Award Committee will make a recommendation for CASE U.S.  Professor of the Year Award candidate to the Vice President for Academic Affairs.  
   
Dissertations 2010 Apr. 7 American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education (AAHHE) member institutions receive Outstanding Dissertations Competition 2010 announcements & guidelines; announcements posted on AAHHE and Educational Testing Service (ETS) websites.
   
CASE Apr. 10 The VPAA will make recommendation to the President regarding nominee for CASE U.S. Professor of the Year Award.
   
Dissertations 2010 April 13 - June 5 Publicity for Outstanding Dissertations Competition 2010
   
CASE Apr. 17 The President sends candidate recommendation to CASE (by April 17th or postmark deadline).  The Vice President for Academic Affairs will notify nominees of decision.
   
STAR May The 2009 Star Award Program is announced by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
   
Chancellor's May. 12 Chancellor's Council Teaching Excellence Award is presented to the recipient at the Distinguished Alumnus Reception.
     
CASE May CASE U.S. Professor of the Year Award nominee is recognized at the Distinguished Alumnus Reception.
   
Dissertations 2010 Jun. 10 Faculty member submits six (6) copies of dissertation abstract to VPAA in format determined by Outstanding Dissertations Competition guidelines.  Note: Submission must include a letter, on university stationery, signed by the chair of the faculty's dissertation committee, indicating that the dissertation meets one of the eligibility criteria defined by the Outstanding Dissertations Competition guidelines.
   
Dissertations 2010 Jun. 12 The Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs convenes the Disserations Award Selection Committee, gives the charge, and the Committee will elect a chair.
   
Dissertations 2010 Jul. 17 The Dissertations Award Committee will make a recommendations for Outstanding Dissertations candidates to the Vice President for Academic Affairs.  
   
STAR Jun. 18 2009 Star Award nominations due to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.  Nominations must be completed and submitted online.
   
STAR Jun. 23 THE Coordinating Board staff will notify nominees that they have been nominated for a 2009 STAR Award.
   
Dissertations 2010 Jul. 31 The VPAA will make recommendations to the President regarding nominees for the Outstanding Dissertations Competition.
   
STAR Aug. 11 Completed application forms for 2009 STAR Awards are due to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board by 5:00 p.m.   Star Awards will be announced and presented by THECB during a special ceremony in Fall 2009.
