San Antonio Early Music Ensemble

Now in its 29th year, the San Antonio Early Music Ensemble was formed at San Antonio College in an effort to recreate the sounds of Medieval and Renaissance Music. Frequently featured at conventions and music festivals such as the Round Top Festival of Early Music and the Texas Music Educators Association convention, they have performed extensively throughout Texas, New Mexico, and Louisiana and have been presented twice on National Public Radio’s "Performance Today."

Judith Ingolfsson, violin

A native of Iceland, Judith Ingolfsson made her solo debut with the Waiblinger Chamber Orchestra in Germany at the age of eight. Since then, she has won such prestigious awards as First Prize at the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis, First Prize at the D’Angelo International Young Artists Competition, and Third Prize and Audience favorite at the Paganini International Violin Competition. Ingolfsson has appeared with symphonies throughout Europe, Asia, and the United States and has been featured on National Public Radio’s "Performance Today" and CBS Sunday Morning.

Denis Azabagic, guitar

Born in Tuzla, Bosnia-Herzogovina, Denis Azabagic has dominated the guitar world since 1993 when he became the youngest winner of the prestigious "Jacinto e Inocencio Guerrero" Competition in Madrid, Spain. A prizewinner in virtually every contest he enters, Azabagic has also won First Prize at such competitions as the René Bartoli Competition, the Francisco Tárrega Competition, and the Printemps de la Guitarre Competition. In addition to performances throughout Europe and the United States, Azabagic has also recorded two CD’s.

Avalon String Quartet

Boasting members from France, Canada, and the United States, the Chicago-based Avalon String Quartet is rapidly establishing itself as one of the premiere ensembles in the United States. Winners of almost every competition they enter, the Avalon String Quartet has competed and performed throughout Europe and the United States and will present a concert at Carnegie Hall in December of 1999.

Andrew Lenz, baritone

Canadian baritone Andrew Lenz has studied and performed around the world. He has appeared in concert and on recordings with numerous ensembles and as a soloist throughout the Canada, Europe, Mexico, and the United States.

Francisco Rocafuerte, piano

A native of Mexico, Dr. Francisco Rocafuerte has performed and studied internationally throughout Latin America, Europe, Canada, and the United States. Winner of the Second International Piano Contest in Paris, France, he has also released a CD featuring Mexican classical music from the turn of the century.

Amy Brownlow, soprano

Amy Hymel Brownlow, soprano, a native of Brownsville, has performed throughout the United States, Mexico, and Europe. She has appeared in such operas as "I Pagliacci", "Suor Angelica", "Carmen", "Die Zauberflöte", and "Hansel and Gretel." Most recently, Brownlow was invited to return to the prestigious Seagle Colony Vocal Institute in New York, where she was selected to sing the role of Musetta in "La Boheme."

Richard Urbis, piano

Pianist-composer Richard Urbis is a graduate of the prestigious Juilliard School of music and was a finalist in the International New York Chopin Competition. In March of 1999, he performed for the Czech Embassy in Washington, D.C., and his Summer 1999 tour of the Czech Republic was met with rave reviews. In June of 1998, Urbis released a CD entitled Music from Prague: 200 Years of Czech Piano Music.
